Novena Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua

St. Anthony the Wonder-Worker Always Answers!
Bring your needs to him. For over 700 years, St. Anthony has been renowned as the “Saint of Miracles.”
We will pray to Saint Anthony for a period of nine days, June 5 – June 13. All petitioners are remembered in daily prayers and masses during the novena.
About St. Anthony
Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195. As a young man, he felt a call to God’s Will and dreamed of becoming a Franciscan Missionary. Illness prevented his traveling to North Africa so he traveled to Italy and became a faithful companion of St. Francis of Assisi. Proclaiming the gospel throughout Northern Italy and Southern France, defending the poor, striking out against evil, and filling the people’s hearts with faith and love.
Anthony passed away in 1231 and was proclaimed a Saint the following year. He is the patron of the poor (St. Anthony’s bread) and is popularly invoked as the finder of lost articles.
He is depicted holding the infant Jesus because of a vision recorded of him.
The Franciscan Brothers, who are charged with the care of the Black Madonna Shrine and Grottos, invite you to join us and the Shrine staff in offering prayers to St. Anthony the Miracle Worker.

UNFAILING PRAYER TO SAINT ANTHONY
O Holy Saint Anthony gentlest of Saints: your love for God and charity for His creatures made you worthy when on earth, to possess miraculous powers.
Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety.
Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me

The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are the Saint of Miracles.
O gentle and loving Saint, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.

St. Anthony, whom the Infant Jesus so much loved and honored, grant us what we ask of you.
O God! Let the votive commemoration of Blessed Anthony, thy confessor, be a source of joy to Thy Church; that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance and may deserve to possess eternal joy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
NOVENA PRAYER TO SAINT ANTHONY
(begin each day with the following)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
I beg of Thee, my God, make haste to assist me.
Oh, Holy Father, merciful and just: giver of all good gifts and graces: I honor you through your saints and to ask their help in my daily life.
Lord, You promised those who ask would receive: those who seek would find: those who knock would have doors opened. That faith would move mountains.
Hear the prayers of your humble children, grant our petitions, and pardon our sins. Amen
Dear St. Anthony, by your holy example and apostolic life, you led countless souls to the protection of our Divine Lord.
On earth, your heart overflowed with compassion ever so gentle and giving: the poor and helpless your special mission.
Gather me close, I entrust myself to your care and place in your hands this request of mine (state your petition) but even more, keep me close to Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Love
DAY 1 Heavenly Father, You inspired St. Anthony, please fill our tired hearts and souls with a passion to do good and emulate St. Anthony in my daily life
DAY 2 Heavenly Father, St. Anthony preached and carried in his soul unbounded Faith and Joy. Grant us a thimble full of his faith let us live with the joy of St. Anthony.
DAY 3 Lord Jesus Christ, Your gospel is the Living Word. “Come to Me” You call. St. Anthony answered – Let us answer Your summons and dedicate our lives to You.
DAY 4 Lord Jesus Christ, at your birth the world rejoiced the Glory of God became man. Anthony accepted your love, help us live a life worthy of your love.
DAY 5 Lord Jesus Christ, Anthony preached Your word and changed the world around him. Teach us to accept what we cannot change and give us the strength to change the things we can.
DAY 6 Lord Jesus Christ, Your servant Anthony lived with poverty, help those in need now, and show us the path to your love. The true road to salvation.
DAY 7 Divine Infant Child Jesus, Anthony so loved You. Spark our hearts with Your love and shower our families with Your heavenly graces and blessings.
DAY 8 Divine Savior, Son of Almighty God, like Anthony, we place our lives in your care. Grant peace and justice to our world, that we might live in harmony.
DAY 9 Oh Heavenly Father, through You all things came to be. Anthony accepted Your Divine Will. Please help us accept what will be. Forgive our sins and grant us eternal life.
